Thank you very much for you and your friends taking the time to create this feedback which I will now communicate to Planex.
I see there are two markets. The existing Spark excellent quality resin products and a smaller market for the £120 priced models which will sell a lot less quantity.
You are right about Spark prices, which continue to rise as Chinese labour costs increase and the danger is that they reduce quality in order to keep the price down.
I like the comment about removable parts and dioramas as that is something that does not add massive production costs but makes the model more appealing.
Great list of models you would like to see.
Transporters are a more limited market and shipping costs - because of the weight - are high from Japan, but I think most 1:43 scale modellers would want one in their collection. So whilst production numbers are low, I still think they will be in the range. I will send Katsu your photo.
So the current plans for Planex are testing Group C cars with MakeUp which are high quality but expensive (2nd one due next month) and then to move into some Lotus models, based on the feedback I am sending.
Because of the Spark/Chinese issues they are already talking to Japanese manufacturers to see if they are able to produce the same quality as Spark and not have any further price increases. I am confident that with Katsu’s focus on quality that will not be a problem.
If that works this year, then I will import by sea in bigger quantities to bring the price down.
Once again thank you for your help and I will keep you informed of progress
